The John Oliver Collection is crafted from two of the South Okanagan’s most distinctive benches — elevated, ancient river terraces defined by their soils, exposure, and drainage.These are hard-working sites. Black Sage Bench delivers power and intensity; Golden Mile Bench brings structure and restraint.

Together, these benches shape how vines struggle, ripen, and express their character. It is this tension between bold fruit, minerality, and natural acidity that defines these wines.

From Hard-Working Ground

Black Sage Bench

Ancient rivers and lakebeds shaped this bench, leaving behind sandy, fast-draining soils forcing the vines to struggle and dig deep. Low yields, deep roots, concentrated fruit producing powerful red wines that anchor the collection.

Golden Mile Bench

Across the valley is a different story. Glaciers carved out rocky, mineral soils that bring restraint. Wines from here show tension — firm tannins, bright acidity, and clean minerality that holds up against the South Okanagan heat.

John Oliver

We named these wines for John Oliver, a man whose determination defined the agricultural spirit of this region. He believed in hard work and staying close to the land. That thinking guides us to make wines that reflect where they come from.
